October is fast approaching now and that can only mean one thing… BRAGTOBERFEST!!
If you’ve been reading around the internetz, especially that of Izlain who is far more organised than me then you would have heard the term already. If not well, it’s just a time we kind of made up to get people sharing their experiences and enjoyment of games. To encourage conversation with each and every one and to get people playing together in a wide range of games.
After the whole Gamergate thingy it’s good to just get back to the passion of gaming and hopefully, like the recent NBI events we can get many people talking and engaging together and maybe even some more newbie bloggers. Mostly, we love games and want to share that with everyone.
We recently had a BRAGTOBERFEST special edition Couch Podtatoe Podcast and this wrapped up as well why we are interested in doing it and what are goals are for the event. Mostly incoherent rambling from me but a good show.
We have a list of activities to do, both multiple ones for a specific day and some that will be week long tests of skill creativity and the ability to brag about awesome achievements. There are a few genres we’ve added and all of the experiences will be free to play type things as we don’t want any barriers to those wanting to join.
Of course we are also looking for suggestions on events, activities and writing prompts and if you’re particularly interested in something please feel free to join up with either the Steam NBI Page or BRAGTOBERFEST annok Page and leave a post for everyone to join in with. Anything is welcome.
Unlike the recent Blaugust event we won’t be asking people to write everyday, just to join in with the discussion when they can. Most of all, HAVE FUN!!
The first event planned for the Newbie Blogger Initiative is starting soon. Havoc in Hearthstone: a competition to test your card playing prowess that will involve fun, friends and fantastic prizes. Starting next weekend and running until we have crowned a blogging champion. Check out the Forum post to sign up and for more info.
Who ever designed this bit trip wonderland is an absolute genius.. Like serious genius. I’ve played quite a few of those old 2d platform’s where they have tried to transform into a 3d world to appease a new generation and have been utterly terrible. Too many bad design choices and mechanics, overdone visuals, and something which comes down to just pandering to nostalgia without having any soul. Yet this is actually well designed and dare I say, fun. A blast to the past
The layout of the zones and world is linear but still open enough that there are multiple paths to traverse it at many parts and a lot of the fun to these worlds is poking into every little corner of the world to find hidden shiny things and bee dogs…yes bee dogs that are entirely adorable but deadly. There is a lot of hidden complexity in this new world hardwired into it. A collection of awesome chests in each area snuggled up into their own private areas, shortcut areas, hidden mini bosses, and even an intricate weave of digging sites that is essentially like going on a treasure hunt. It is all just lovingly crafted. -Word Spam Ahoy>
The Winter wonderland is here for all and there are some great additions this time that I think most people will enjoy… including myself. This time though it is good to see that everyone will get a chance to experience the new content and have a chance at the rewards, it feels a lot more inclusive that each of the stops at the different cities is 24 hours long and then we have a full 2 weeks with the end events. I have been playing this holiday event far more than the last because of this as I feel I am being included. I have done most of everything now and have my achievements for all the main Lion’s Arch activities not because I am an achievement whore or one of those consume all the content type people but because they were actually all fun in their own way. -Word Spam Ahoy>
